Ponsse has been recognised for its innovation in design and sustainability. For example, its Scorpion harvester was a finalist for the Swedish Steel Prize in 2015 for its design focused on operator ergonomics and the use of high-strength steel to reduce environmental impact.

In addition, in 2022, Ponsse introduced the PONSSE EV1 technology concept, an electric forestry machine developed in partnership with Epec, as part of its strategy towards carbon neutrality and sustainable forestry.

Processing heads are the devices installed on harvesters (and in some cases on excavator arms) that carry out the cutting, delimbing and measuring of trees.

Harvesters are the machines responsible for felling and processing trees at the cutting site. These machines cut the tree, limb it and cut it into specific lengths.
